			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The <a href="http://www.umbc.edu/studentlife/orgs/chess/">UMBC Chess Team</a> has tied for first place in the 2008 Pan-American Intercollegiate Team Chess Championship, hosted in Dallas, TX.  The  Retrievers tied with the University of Texas at Dallas (B Team) in round 6 of competition.  This marks the 8th first place finish for the Retrievers in the Pan-Am Tournament &#8212; beating UTD&#8217;s old record.  This finish will send UMBC (and UTD) to the <a href="http://www.uschess.org/" target="_blank">USCF</a>&#8216;s 2009 President&#8217;s Cup, better known as the &#8220;final four&#8221; of college chess.<br />
