]]> The UMBC Chess Team has tied for first place in the 2008 Pan-American Intercollegiate Team Chess Championship, hosted in Dallas, TX. The Retrievers tied with the University of Texas at Dallas (B Team) in round 6 of competition. This marks the 8th first place finish for the Retrievers in the Pan-Am Tournament — beating UTD’s old record.  This finish will send UMBC (and UTD) to the USCF‘s 2009 President’s Cup, better known as the “final four” of college chess.
