In a press release from the America East Conference, it was announced that Providence College will join as an associate member. While all other sports, except men’s and women’s ice hockey, take part in the Big East, the volleyball team has been independent since 2003 and finished the 2009 season 10-16. With Providence College joining the America East as an associate volleyball member the league now has seven teams, enough for each team to play 12 conference games with six on the road and six at home.
This move will take place immediately and the Friars will be apart of the conference for the 2010 volleyball season.
