This week the Retrievers picked up a road win as they defeated James Madison in four sets (25-16,25-23,16-25,25-21) and snapped the Dukes five match winning streak in the series. The Retrievers had a team hitting percentage of .361 for the match while they held JMU to .045.
UMBC played well despite being without the services of senior Ashley Oscars and freshman Ali Loynachan due to illness.
Sophomore Alyssa Lang led the Retrievers with 12 kills while fellow sophomore Iman Kennedy had nine kills with only one error. Junior Sabrina Hoeks fell a little short of a double-double with nine kills and nine digs. Senior Kira Giles did produce a double-double with 32 assists and 10 digs in the victory.
The Retrievers will not return to action until next Tuesday when the host the Towson Tigers at 7 p.m. in the RAC Arena.
