UMBC-UMB bus route discontinued for the summer
By: Gaby Arevalo -

The bus route between UMBC and UMB has been discontinued for the months of July and August due to budget issues and a decline in riders.

The MTA #35 bus stops on both campuses. UMBC students with classes or internship responsibilities at UMB are eligible for a UMBC Transit underwriting of a monthly MTA bus pass for the remainder of July and for the month of August.

What about students who live near UMB who previously depended on this bus to get to and from UMBC? Any word on whether this is just for the summer or permanent?

Good call by transit on supplementing bus passes though. I hope to see those eligible expanded to those who live in the area and need to use the bus to get to UMBC, since it WAS supposed to facilitate transit to AND from UMB.

From my understanding, it should get back to normal once the fall semester begins. This was a way to ease the financial strain, and since not as many students are around during the summer, it affects less people.

If I get any more information on the matter, I’ll post an update.
