The following e-mail was sent out to the Greek community by Corin Gioia, the coordinator of Greek life on campus, this afternoon:
“As many of you may know, Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity was suspended from the University in Spring 2007. Since then, the organization has completed the sanction conditions and has petitioned to return to campus for the Spring 2009 semester. Effective today, Sigma Alpha Epsilon has been approved as a recognized student organization. The remaining members at UMBC will be participating in recruitment starting next week. Please look forward to learning more about this organization through various opportunities. The group will meet with the IFC executive board in the next few weeks to discuss the transition back into the council as well as host a presentation for the Greek community in Fall 2009 to share their vision for the reinstatement of the chapter. “
The Retriever Weekly covered the story of SAE’s suspension in August of 2007.
