Fees increase a total of $104

In this year’s SGA elections, UMBC student voters approved Referendum A to increase the annual student activity fee from $78 to $88. Webmail issues over by Sunday at latest

According to Mike Carlin of UMBC’s OIT office, 25% of the campus’ inboxes were rendered inaccesible, after a server collapsed completely at 6 a.m. this morning. According to OIT, the collapse effects 12,000 active UMBC webmail accounts belonging to students, staff, and faculty. Library hours extended for finals

The SGA library committee recently attended the President’s Council in which Hrabowski announced his support of the committee’s initiative to extend to library hours. Later a  ”pilot program” to push back the library’s closing time by two hours starting the week before finals until the end of the finals was approved.

Biology Building room 369 clear

Room 369 in the Biology Building is clear for use, according to a text message from the UMBC Emergency Alert System. A source in UMBC Facilities Management suggested that the chemical hazard was the result of a broken mercury thermometer in the lab, though this report has not yet been verified.
