At 9:17 a.m., UMBC alerted the campus through its text message alert system that the school would be closed today. Campus opening at noon

Though initially scheduled to open at 10 a.m. today, it was decided at approximately 8:30 a.m. that UMBC would not open until noon. Overnight snow accumulation reached about 3-to-4 inches, falling short of some loftier projections.
