There’s no place like the road?
By: Donald Daniels -

This past weekend five of the UMBC sports teams had a great deal of success away from home. For some teams the road has not been good to them but this weekend proved to be the opposite.

Which team was the most impressive this past weekend?

Men’s Lacrosse: 14-9 win at Delaware as three different Retrievers had three goals or more for No. 11 UMBC.

Men’s Basketball: 80-63 win versus the Hawks as they beat Hartford in their gym for the first time in men’s basketball history, sweeping the 2008-09 regular season series in the process.

Women’s Lacrosse: 19-1 blowout win at Howard as four different Retrievers had a three goals or more.

Women’s basketball: Eke out a 77-74 win at Maine to give the Retrievers their first road AEC win of the season and defeating the Black Bears for the first time on the road in UMBC women’s basketball history.

Indoor track and field: Three more runners qualify for the ECAC/IC4A Championships and three of the female runners win three different events at the Rider/Lafayette Winter Games in New York, N.Y.
