According to a CNN projection, Obama has won Ohio. What this means for the Democrats: Barring an unforeseen victory for McCain in a big ticket state, with the Pennsylvania and Ohio wins under Obama’s belt, things are looking up for the Democrats.

Pennsylvania has been called for Obama and Alabama has gone to McCain. So far all the states that have been called have gone the same way as they did in the 2004 election. A number of a states have just closed their polls. Projections give Obama 77 electoral votes and McCain 34.  Obama’s also starting  to pick up Florida with 55% of counted votes going to Obama, 45% to McCain.

So the first two states have already been called. To no one’s surprise, Kentucky went heavily McCain giving him 8 electoral votes and Vermont went Obama giving him 3 electoral votes.
