UMBC Police Services
By: Alethea Paul -

In light of recent criminal activities students may feel uneasy about walking around campus, but the UMBC police department already has a few services that might help students feel more secure. One service UMBC provides is the availability of escorts generally during evening and early morning hours. All that needs to be done is call extension x3133 and a Student Marshal, or if there are none on duty a police officer when he or she becomes available,  will walk with you to your destination.
The other service, that students see from day to day, but isn’t often used, is the blue light phones located all throughout campus. When the call button is pressed is links you directly with the UMBC police. So if you feel that you are being followed or threatened while on campus, look for one of these phones.
