Victor Gilreath broke a school and 19-year-old America East Conference Championship meet record in the triple jump with his mark of 15.45 meters, earning him a first place finish as he was named Most Outstanding Field Performer. His record led UMBC (120.5 points) to a fourth place finish.
UMBC's Keith Onto won the decathlon with 7,239 points, breaking both the previous AEC Championship record of 6,885 and the UMBC record of 7,142 that had stood since 1975. His total pushed him into the Top 25 in the nation for the event.
Onto took first in six events. He won the long jump (6.57 meters), the high jump (2.01 meters), the 400-meter dash (49.89 seconds), the 100-meter hurdles (15.20 seconds), the discus throw (34.78 meters) and the javelin throw (53.32 meters).
He also took second in three events: the 100-meter dash (11.38 seconds), the shot put (12.85 meters), and a tie for the pole vault (4.15 meters). Onto's lowest performance was a third place finish in the 1,500-meter run (4:25.24).
The men's team also added to the list of athletes who qualified for the Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Athletes of America Championships, where the team will be represented in five individual events and two relays.
The men's team left the meet with three gold medals, three silver medals, and four bronze medals.
In the individual runs, the men's team shined. Three UMBC runners placed in the 100-meter run. Senior Antonio Thomas set a season-best time in the preliminaries with a time of 10.93 seconds. He then went on to win the silver in the finals with a time of 11.06 seconds.
Senior Adrian Arthur also scored in the 100-meter run with a bronze medal finish and a time of 10.87 seconds, also a season best. Wrapping up the scoring for UMBC in the event was senior Justin Acker, who placed sixth with a time of 10.97 seconds.
Thomas continued his scoring in the 200-meter dash with a silver medal. His time of 21.60 in the preliminaries was a season best and a qualifying time for the I.C.4.A. Championships.
In the 400-meter dash, sophomore Joshua Hewitson set his own season-best time (48.58 seconds) and earned a sixth place finish.
Senior Michael Christmas broke the school record in the 800-meter run with his bronze medal winning and IC4A qualifying time of 1:51.34.
Finishing up the individual runs, senior Camal Pugh won the gold in the 100-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 14.57 seconds.
In the relays, the men's team set new season records as well. The 4x100-meter relay team improved on their already-IC4A-qualifying best of 42.00 seconds. Acker, senior Jason Powell, Arthur, and Thomas earned a time of 41.66 seconds.
The Retrievers 4x800-meter relay, not to be left out of the scoring, won the silver medal as well. Christmas, senior Josh Okoniewski, sophomore Roy Jones, and junior Chris Snyder set a season-best time of 7:36.59.

In the pole vault, junior Martin Nevarez tied for sixth with a height of 4.35 meters. Senior Brian Pendleton took fifth place in the long jump, setting a season best distance of 7.23 meters.
Pendleton took the bronze in the triple jump, jumping a season-best 14.82 meters.
In the throwing field events, the men took home one medal but scored in three events. Sophomore Aaron Brooks earned fifth in the shot put with a distance of 15.08 meters. Freshman Cameron McDearmon took seventh with a throw of 15.02 meters.
In the discus throw, Brooks won the bronze with a season-best distance of 45.47 meters while freshman Evan Palmer took sixth with a throw of 43.98 meters.
