The men's lacrosse team's quest for fifth straight trip to the N.C.A.A. tournament was ended in the semi-finals of the America East Conference Tournament with an 11-7 loss to conference rival University at Albany.UAlbany's game plan was simple. They played a man-to-man defense with Mike Banks covering Kyle Wimer, and first-team All-AEC defender Brendan Gleason defending Rob Grimm. Women's tennis falls to Binghamton University after besting Albany in semifinals

Fourth-seeded UMBC advanced to the America East Conference Tennis Semifinals with a 4-0 victory over fifth-seeded University of Albany at the Yale University Tennis Center. The team hoped to return to the AEC finals for the first time since 2007, but were unsuccessful, falling to top-seeded Binghamton University in the semifinals.Against Albany, sophmore Carmen Jackman and junior Emily Mannix defeated Susan Ma and Aubrey Brooks, 8-4. Victor-y! Gilreath breaks 19-year old AEC record

Victor Gilreath broke a school and 19-year-old America East Conference Championship meet record in the triple jump with his mark of 15.45 meters, earning him a first place finish as he was named Most Outstanding Field Performer. His record led UMBC (120.5 points) to a fourth place finish.UMBC's Keith Onto won the decathlon with 7,239 points, breaking both the previous AEC Championship record of 6,885 and the UMBC record of 7,142 that had stood since 1975. After a four year absence from post season play, the women's lacrosse team will return to the America East tournament. With 15 goals and 13 assists, men's soccer forward and midfielder Levi Houapeu stood alone as the nations top scorer with 43 points. After the men's soccer team was picked to finish in last place in the America East Conference in 2009, Houapeu, along with Andrew Bulls (15 goals, 10 assists) won their first nine games of the season and finished 14-6, one win shy of a conference title. For a second straight season, University of Hartford (4-10, 1-4 America East Conference) met the UMBC (4-8, 3-2 AEC) men's lacrosse team with nothing to lose, and for a second straight season the Retrievers were upset by the Hawks and had their winning streak ended.
